Sturgis 2007

Did the run up to Sturgis, SD again this year for the annual motorcycle rally. Velvet Revolver was one of many concerts they had at The Buffalo Chip Campground where I stayed.

A friend of mine is the Lighting Director for ZZ Top so I got to sit in the lighting booth with him for the show. The ampitheater was packed tight so it was great to have some elbow room

The rally is really about riding in some amazing scenery.

Needles Highway entering Custer State Park

One of the rock tunnels you drive through. They are all single lane so you get a big traffic jam and there is a park employee running the stop sign.

My 2004 Sportster Custom.

When you look through this tunnel you see Mount Rushmore off in the distance. They cut the tunnel and the trees behind it to frame the monument.

As you decend on the other side of the park they have "pigtail bridges." They are iron and wooden and spin you around in a circle.

After leaving the park I headed North to Deadwood. They brought the set from the HBO show of the same name out and set it up just outside of town.

I decided to try an "Iron Butt" ride for the trip home. You have to make 1000 miles in 24 hours. I made 1080 in 17 hours but my face paid the price. The raccoon eyes blended in after a couple days rest.

Whatley's a year old too

Whatley no longer fits in my palm, still not full grown but he is getting there. He loves trips to the dog park where he entertains everyone by sprinting circles around the planters trying to get other dogs to chase him.
